Candied Living est. 2015
Hello! My name is Candice. Welcome to Candied Living! A blog about Making Life Sweet At Any Age by looking for and finding the good things in life. Whether you’re 18 years old or 98 years old, life CAN be sweet! My inspiration comes from many places: my family, my friends, my kitchen, my garden, my chickens, music, yoga and my travels. My goal is to share with you what inspires me in the sincere hope that you too will be inspired to Make Life Sweet no matter your chronological age.
Deciding to learn how to cook at the ripe old age of 58 (Yes, that’s right! I never got around to really learning how to cook as a young mother and professional), I’ve since been on a quest for good recipes to make for family and friends. I look everywhere. Whether it’s the latest trending recipes or treasured tried and true heritage recipes, I have found online cooking sites, perusing cookbooks, magazines and even the newspaper to be great resources. However, the most treasured recipes I have accumulated come from those kind enough to share their personal recipes and teach me how to make them. That’s why every month I will feature a Guest Chef and one of their recipes plus the added bonus of their valued cooking tips and kitchen tricks. No. They won’t be famous TV Chefs. Rather they’re people in my life who’ve come along beside me as they’ve seen me passionately display my decision to not only learn to cook, but to learn to be a good cook! You will not want to miss this monthly feature! I think you’ll be surprised by who has taught me these great recipes and cooking tips and kitchen tricks that have so wonderfully enhanced my kitchen experience.
I do love to cook! I especially love to bake! And, I’m SERIOUS about Cupcakes! I’ve even had a few cupcake recipes Published. Each month I will post a Scrump-dilly-icious Cupcake Recipe that’s been kitchen tested by me in the Candied Living Kitchen!
I will also regularly feature posts on Product Reviews as well. I’ll share my honest opinions on kitchen utensils, appliances and products as I’ve used them in the Candied Living Kitchen while preparing real food recipes. I invite you to visit this section of my blog to share in the conversation and offer feedback.
Main dish meals are the focal point of any dinner. I’ve tackled all cuts of meat, poultry and seafood. I will share what I’ve learned about the many different cuts of meat and how my family likes them prepared. Some years back, we joined the meatless Monday movement so you can expect to see meatless main dish meals too.
More About Me!
I am an Adventurer! I’m also a hopeless Optimist! I’ve been married to the love of my life for nearly 35 years. I am the mother to five amazing and distinctly different grown children! Together my husband and I have had the most amazingly sweet life. Has it all been chocolate cupcakes? NO! Absolutely not! We’ve had our share of life’s ups and downs, health issues and setbacks. In the end, it became our desire to find the good things in life to focus on and be thankful for. We treasure every day and have determined to Make Life Sweet no matter what!
I love to travel, cook, bake, EAT, garden and tend to my flock of chickens. I am passionate about music, staying active and living a clean, healthy lifestyle. I practice yoga regularly and am active in a book club with five wonderful and inspirational women of every age and from every walk of life. But truly, when all is said and done, I am at heart an adventurer of life! I love to try new things, visit new places and meet new people. Along the way, I seek to enrich my life by learning from others.
My bucket list is no where near complete. Mostly because I continually make additions to accommodate my endless interests. In 2013 my eldest daughter and I traveled to Washington DC and New York City. It was the trip of a lifetime. And, yes! I want to go back to both places. I’m currently preparing for a trip to Europe with my 14 year old Granddaughter. Another bucket list item. Another trip of a lifetime! I will take pictures, eat the local cuisine and observe how people in other countries live. I’ll be true to my word and share my observations on how Europeans Make Life Sweet. Which by-the-way is how I’ve learned to make my life sweet. Observing how others do it! You can too. Follow me on my Candied Living blog and together we’ll share our adventures in life; whether it be cooking, baking, gardening, antiquing, crafting, hangin’ with family and friends, traveling or sharing our favorite music and books! Let’s be each other’s inspiration in this pursuit for the sweet things in life. Let’s enjoy the good and let go of the negative. Which reminds me of the Grammy winning song by Idina Menzel “Let It Go,” from the movie Frozen. Come along with me and together let’s Make Life Sweet!
Go ahead! Take a taste! Life is SWEET! At any age life CAN indeed be sweet!
